Getting Around New Orleans
If you’re staying in the French Quarter, Downtown or in the Arts/Warehouse District, you will be close to everything and may not need to transportation. Still, the New Orleans’ streetcar system is a charming way to explore the city. You can also easily rent bikes, hop a bus, take a ferry, or call a pedicab, a taxi or a limo service to explore the diverse neighborhoods New Orleans has to offer.
LOUIS ARMSTRONG NEW ORLEANS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MSY)

Taxis
To get a taxi, look for the dedicated taxi loading zone curbside on the Arrivals Level 1 Baggage Claim Door 7. Taxi rides cost approximately $36.00-$45.00 from the airport to the Central Business District or French Quarter (west of Elysian Fields) for (2-3) passengers. All taxis are required to accept credit cards.
Ride Sharing
Order an Uber or Lyft and meet your ride in the designated area on the lower level of the airport parking lot across the street from baggage claim. Trips to and from the airport with start and end locations in Orleans Parish start at $33. See average pricing below:
NOLA Public Transportation
Avoid parking and traffic by utilizing public transit to and from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Service to Downtown New Orleans from the airport is available via the Jefferson Transit Authority (JET) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). Bus service is available from Level 1 Baggage Claim outside Door 2, Zones B4 and B5.
Jefferson Transit Authority (JET)Bus fare for the Veterans-Airport (E1) bus operated by JET is $2.00. The fare boxes will accept $1, $5, $10, $20 dollar bills and all U.S. coins. The Veterans-Airport (E1) bus provides service from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, to Downtown, with a total travel time of approximately fifty (50) minutes. Regional Transportation Authority (RTA)The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides the Airport Express (202) Bus with service to and from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport into New Orleans. Pick up locations for the Airport Express (202) Bus in New Orleans include two separate Downtown New Orleans locations. Bus stops include Elk Place at Cleveland, or the Union Passenger Terminal/Bus Bay 2. Bus fare for this route is $1.25. Please be aware that only the Regional Ride day pass can be used on both JET and RTA systems. All other JET fares and passes are non-transferable to the RTA system. To utilize the RTA system, JeT riders must pay RTA fare or purchase a Jazzy Pass (if not using a Regional Ride pass).
