Lee Somerville, RDH, MS graduated from the dental hygiene program at Cape Cod Community College with an AS degree and from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science. She received a Master of Science in Dental Public Health from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. She has over 30 years in private practice experience. Lee has been an instructor at Cape Cod Community College since 1986 and has taught freshman and sophomore clinic, radiology and several didactic courses. Her passion is instructing sophomore students on extramural rotations, providing free dental hygiene treatment for school children, special needs adult patients and nursing home patients, concentrating on the underserved population.
Lee co-authored the article Waiting to Exhale: Managing Sleep Apnea for the Pediatric Dental Patient which was published in both RDH Magazine and Canada’s Oral Hygiene Magazine.
She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and American Dental Education Association. Lee is a full-time Professional Education Manager with Philips North America. She lectures in the Northeast as well as nationally.
