Betty Kabel, RDH, BS, a Florida dental hygienist for 37 years is a graduate of Pensacola Junior College and University of West Florida. In addition to working many years in private practice, she was an adjunct faculty at Pensacola State College, Professional Educator with Philips Oral Health and University of Florida Gator Kids Healthy Smiles.
Director Dental Outreach with North Florida Medical Centers, embracing her passion for public health, 12 years ago she developed a school-based program outreach program that spans 3 counties and 13 Elementary Title I schools. The program has served thousands of children in underserved communities.
During her leadership and advocacy roles with the Florida Dental Hygienists’ Association she led the legislative team to successfully pass legislation that created direct access, expanded practice settings, removed restrictive supervision language and added the administration of local anesthesia by dental hygienists.
Her leadership roles include American Dental Hygienists’ Association, President, 2016-2017, Florida Dental Hygienists Association, President 1997-1998. Past Chair of the ADHA Institute for Oral Health. She serves on committees supporting leadership development, school oral health, ASTDD School Adolescent and Oral Health, Oral Health Florida, Commission on Dental Accreditation Dental Hygiene Review Committee and Dental and Dental Hygiene Compact Group.
